Grass Roots Rock

Brook Fihma
I made the decision to commit myself to artistic and creative exploration four years ago upon entering a graduate program in interior design at Ball State. Since then I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to discover both sides of art and design through my work in school and through learning to paint under Magdalena Segovia. I chose interior design as an avenue to learn about green building, hoping to find a way to blend creative inclinations with a longstanding committment to the environment. Painting has provided a way to express my thoughts about the earth conceptually. I use graphic inspired lines along with a monochromatic palette to communicate the vulnerability and transience of the plants and animals which I have chosen to make my focus. I intend for all my work to be front and center on "the green bandwagon" because I am thrilled that this societal trend is taking the world by storm and environmental conciousness is finally here to stay.
