100 Cars in the Carmel Arts & Design District on Father’s Day Weekend

On Saturday, June 14th the Carmel Arts & Design District will play host to the first Carmel Artomobilia – a celebration of the art and design of the automobile. The event will include 100 cars, spanning 100 years - from the early twentieth century to contemporary.

The event takes place in the Arts & Design District in Carmel, Indiana on Saturday, June 14th from noon to 6 p.m. Several city blocks will be closed to make room for an outdoor gallery of seminal designs from automotive history. Galleries, restaurants and design houses in the district will join with collector car owners to present a display of automotive design on wheels and on canvas.

The free-admission show is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors.

Among the cars anticipated are the incredibly rare Bugatti Veyron - the fastest production car in the world, Lamborghini Gallardo, Noble M400, Porsche Carrera GT3, the limited edition Aston Martin AR1 and the Audi R8. The classic section includes many notable names in Indiana’s automotive heritage: Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg as well as Stutz and Studebaker. Other event attractions include early racers, several associated with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In addition to the cars, racing drivers Al Unser Jr. and third generation driver Al Unser III will be present with display cars from the Playa-Del Racing Team.

The Carmel Arts & Design District is the Midwest’s newest, premier setting for the arts and design industry. Already the district has attracted well over 100 businesses including art galleries, antique dealers, furniture and interior design showrooms, even a race track design company! There are restaurants, boutiques, creative service providers, and an eclectic variety of specialty retail stores. And the list of merchants continues to grow.
