Gateways to Carmel’s Arts & Design District Officially Unveiled
Carmel, IN –  A ceremony celebrating the unveiling of the gateways marking Carmel’s new Arts and Design District was held this morning at the eastern boundary gateway on Main Street and 4th Avenue East adjacent to the Carmel Clay Public Library.  The brick columns on both sides of Main Street are connected by a stylized iron work truss featuring the Arts and Design District logo.

Following the brief ceremony with comments by Mayor Jim Brainard and Carmel Redevelopment Commission member and Councilman Ron Carter, the iron-work truss was set into place by a crane.   Construction of the gateway marking the southern boundary, located at Range Line Road and 4th Street South, will be finalized later in the day.  Future plans also call for gateways at the northern and western boundaries of the District.

According to Mayor Brainard, “This is an exciting time for Carmel, as we are poised on the brink of transforming the present and creating the future with a thriving new Arts and Design District…infusing style, energy and enthusiasm into downtown.”

The Arts and Design District, concentrated in Carmel’s Old Town area, will house a mix of cultural amenities including galleries, shops, upscale boutiques, cafés, restaurants, and residences to form a unique atmosphere and anchor of attraction in the community.
