Carmel Voted One of Best Places to Live in America
by Money Magazine
Carmel, IN – Carmel, Indiana was voted one of the best places to live in America for cities under 100,000 population by Money Magazine. Carmel was rated eleventh in the Central Region. They selected communities based on a combination of median household income, above average population growth and lifestyle segmentation data, which included tax rates, weather data, housing prices, the availability and variety of leisure and cultural activities, educational opportunities, cleanliness of the environment, crime rates and ease of travel.

“We are extremely pleased that others recognize what we have known for years … that Carmel is one of the best places to live, work and raise a family anywhere. As we see the completion of significant structures in City Center, such as the Performing Arts Pavilion, and the addition of Central Park to Carmel’s park system we will only improve our rankings in databases such as the one in Money Magazine,” said Mayor Jim Brainard.

To compile their list of the best places to live in America, Money Magazine used statistics about 271 cities in the United States from OnBoard LLC, a real estate information company. The

OnBoard LLC list included cities with the highest median household incomes in the nation and above average population growth. Money Magazine then combined the OnBoard information with MOSAIC lifestyle segmentation data provided by Applied Geographic Solutions to narrow the list down to 87 cities. MOSAIC is a database system that results in the classification of neighborhoods using Experian, which has been studying international lifestyle segmentation for more than 20 years in about 20 countries.
