Are you ready to rock?  Then volunteer for IU Health North Hospital Rock the DistrictOn June 11th, over 10, 000 people will be rocking out on the streets of Carmel enjoying music, food, and vendors.  Volunteers are needed throughout the day in various areas including:

Setup/Cheer Squad

    • What to expect and what you may be asked to do:
      • Have a positive and excited attitude
      • Be ready to use the phrase, “I do not know the answer to that question, but I can find out for you!”
      • Assist with trash can assembly and placement in the event area
      • Serve as a cheerleader along the Carmel Marathon route on the west end of the Carmel Arts & Design District
      • Assist with the set-up of a VIP area (moving and placing tables, placing linens, setting up chairs, etc.)
      • Placing banners or signs in the Carmel Arts & Design IU Health North Hospital Rock the District event footprint area
      • Assist event staff to safely secure cords and/or materials that cross pedestrian paths
      • Set-up 10x10 pop-up tents as directed by event staff in designated areas
      • Move weighted materials and secure them to tents to ensure they are stable
      • Assist event staff with hospitality for sponsors, food vendors and Arts & Design District businesses
    • 2 shifts available:
      • 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
      • 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Information & Hospitality

    • What to expect and what you may be asked to do:
      • Have a positive and excited attitude
      • Be ready to use the phrase, “I do not know the answer to that question, but I can find out for you!”
      • Have a basic knowledge of the amenities and businesses in the Carmel Arts & Design District (You do not know now? No worries! Just ask! We will give you a crash course on everything the Arts & Design District has to offer)
      • Answer questions and direct visitors to port-o-lets, specific stages, restaurants, Carmel Arts & Design District stores and food areas
      • Serve at a courtesy station immediately outside the footprint area to direct guests from designated parking areas to the event area
      • Transport (in a vehicle provide by event staff) guests from designated parking to the event area
    • 2 shifts available:
      • 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
      • 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Runner

    • What to expect and what you may be asked to do:
      • Have a positive and excited attitude
      • Be ready to use the phrase, “I do not know the answer to that question, but I can find out for you!”
      • Do you like to be on stage and get a crowd pumped? If so, let us know! Runners who are willing and have the right charisma will be asked to hop on stage and introduce acts, make announcements and pump up our event guests!
      • Assist with the transition of the event area from being “Carmel Marathon” to “IU Health North Hospital Rock the District”
      • Trash collection and consolidation during the event to ensure our event is pristine and inviting
      • Run materials to stages as requested
      • Monitor and clean VIP area
      • Assist event staff to safely secure cords and/or materials that cross pedestrian paths
      • Move tables, chairs
      • Distribute water/food to volunteers working in designated areas at the event
      • Relieve volunteers in designated areas for bathroom breaks
      • Step-in in the event a volunteer does not show up
      • Assist event staff with band hospitality to transition on and off stage with ease
      • Direct event guests to safety in the event of inclement weather
      • “Hurry up and wait.” We know volunteers like to stay busy. Please know that the value of a runner to event staff is to be willing to be at our event headquarters and complete a designated task at any given moment. This means you may have down time. Please know that your down time is of great value to us! Events have many unexpected needs and we appreciate your willingness to be on hand and answer the call when it comes in!
    • 2 shifts available:
      • 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
      • 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Cleanup

    • What to expect and what you may be asked to do:
      • While we do not encourage it, this is our only position that does not require a positive and excited attitude!
      • Assist event staff with trash collection and transport of trash to designated dumpsters (We provide Gators for ease of transport, but if you happen to have a pick-up truck you are willing to use for your shift? We welcome that opportunity!)
      • Lift and load heavy materials used for electrical supply
      • Breakdown tables and chairs
      • Take down banners and signage
      • Take down 10x10 pop-up tents
      • Assist event staff with the consolidation and clean-up of event headquarters (moving coolers, food, administrative materials etc.)
      • Walk the Arts & Design District and the PNC parking lot to collect bits of trash and restore the District to its quality appearance
    • 1 shift available:
      • 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
