Celebrate fall in the Carmel Arts & Design District on October 8

Carmel, IN - Wine and dine at one of the District restaurants, browse the new and exciting exhibits at 10 District galleries and explore all the unique things the District has to offer during the IU Health North Hospital Second Saturday Gallery Walk on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 5-9 p.m.

Special gallery exhibits will be featured throughout the Gallery Walk including:

  * ArtSplash Gallery's (111 W. Main St., Suite 140) featured artists for October are Anna Combs and Dennis Ellman.  Anna works in oil, watercolor and mixed media in a variety of themes.  Dennis, a California artist, works in mixed media, acrylics and pen and ink drawings.

  * CCA Gallery (111 W. Main St., Suite 135) presents its October Feature Show for three of their new artists: Acrylic painter Ladan Abbaspour, oil artist Shelley Feeney and Maura Fox, who creates wearable fiber art. CCA Gallery will also host a reception that evening from 6-9 p.m. for guests to meet the gallery's artists and enjoy art and refreshments.

The public is invited to try glass forming and make a hot-glass pumpkin with Lisa Pelo of Hot Blown Glass, Ltd. in the PNC Bank parking lot (21 N. Range Line Rd.) from 2 - 9 p.m. There is a $25 cost to participate in this activity and reservations are on the hour (walk-ups will be accommodated if space is available).  Contact Stephanie Marshall at smarshall@carmel.in.gov for reservations.

Additional activities taking place during the October Gallery Walk include:

* Pumpkin carving demonstration by master carver Lee Saberson (by 111 W. Main St., Suite 130)

* Free caricatures and face painting by Custom Eyes Designs, (by Auntie Em's Frozen Custard & Cupcakes 111 W. Main St., Suite 130).

* Musical Entertainment along Main Street

* Be a part of the Scavenger Hunt that will lead you to find select pieces of art or items of interest in each of the participating galleries and businesses. Begin the hunt next to All Things Carmel (110 W. Main Street, Suite 104). Follow the clues through the District and then turn in your completed clue sheet to receive a charm. Collect a different charm at each Gallery Walk throughout the year to complete a whole charm bracelet by the end of the year.

Your completed Scavenger Hunt clue sheet will enter you for a chance to win one of several great prizes:

o  Original artwork from the Carmel ArtSplash Gallery ($300 value); donated by Cardon Carmel Health and Living
o  4 children's gift baskets (valued at $20 each); donated by Cardon Carmel Health and Living
o  Two tickets to the Carmel Symphony at the Palladium ($44 value)
