Julie Joy Houck

Houck

Julie M. Houck was deeply influenced by her mother’s talent and love of art. During the winter of 2002 she was deeply inspired at a workshop presented by C.W. Mundy, a well-known oil impressionist painter. That same year she began to paint in oil paints and she found a mentor in the late artist Gene Jones.

Julie M. Houck’s passion for finding the beauty in the world is evident in her warm and inviting landscape paintings. Nature comes to life and reveals their true personality under her brush. Thick impasto oils are deftly applied presenting an amazing array of detail and rich textural quality. This combination enriches her works with the heightened impact of a dreamlike reality.

Indiana artist Jacque Hammonds earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Herron School of Art/IUPUI. Since 2005, she has maintained her own studio called "HGT Art" in the Carmel Arts and Design District. Her art has been described as "whimsical" or "fun". She loves the interaction of brightly colored objects and dramatic, descriptive lines, usually giving the viewer "Jacque's unique angle on the story". Jacque also spent two and a half years teaching high school level art classes at Indiana Academy in Cicero, Indiana. At present, Jacque resides in the Fishers area, and is a current cast member of the Fishers Renaissance Faire.
