Atlas Fantasy Art HouseAtlas Fantasy Art House will host its grand opening this weekend in the Carmel Arts & Design District with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9 with special guests Mayor Brainard and featured artist, Donato Giancola. Atlas Fantasy Art House is a three-story art gallery specializing in Illustrator art with emphasis on Science Fiction and fantasy art located at 246 W. Main Street.

Giancola has won three Artist Hugo Awards for outstanding professional work from the World Science Fiction Society in addition to numerous other awards. He recently completed the artwork for the Sam Shepherd and Mercury Project forever stamps unveiled at the Kennedy Space Center on May 4th, 2011. The original Sam Shepherd preliminary drawing and the forever stamp will be displayed at the gallery.

Additional activities will take place on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 to celebrate the grand opening. Donato Giancola will be at Atlas Fantasy Art House after the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 9 throughout the day and for a meet and greet reception from 7-9 p.m. In addition, Curtis Oddo will be present for a book signing of his work, “The Crimson Battle Axe,” and a performance of his soon to be recorded acoustic music. The original painting used for the book cover done by Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell will be on display for viewing.

On Saturday, March 10, Donato Giancola will hold a painting demonstration at Atlas Fantasy Art House from 4-10 p.m. coinciding with the IU Health North Hospital Gallery Walk in the Arts & Design District.

ValentinaValentina Shvyrkova will be creating one of her latest water colours at the ArtSplash Gallery. Originally from Moscow, Russia she now resides in Carmel and her art includes pieces in oil and watercolors. She will also have a number of pieces on exhibit in the gallery.
