VALENTINE'S DAY ART WALK
Thursday, February 14th, from 6-10pm

The Gallery Association of the Carmel Arts & Design District is celebrating their first annual Valentines Day Art Walk, taking place Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 6-10 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Area galleries will host opening receptions featuring works by international artists and offer special Valentines treats such as wine, cheese, champagne and chocolate. Select guest galleries from Indianapolis will also be present displaying works of art that evening. As part of the Valentine celebration, two horse-drawn carriages will offer free rides around the Arts & Design District and galleries.

The Arts & Design District’s newest gallery, Frazier Pettee Fine Art will open its doors to the public for the first time this evening. Bistro de Paris, an upscale restaurant serving French and African cuisine, is celebrating a premier opening for Valentine night only as well. Select area merchants will remain open until 10 p.m. with special Valentines sales or open house celebrations during the Art Walk.

Parking is available at the Carmel Lions Club parking lot, Carmel High School parking lots and other public parking areas, as well as on-street parking. A heated shuttle will be available to transport visitors to the galleries from the Carmel High School front lot located on Main Street.

Events Taking Place on Thursday, February 14th

Accent Details – Celebrate the grand re-opening of Accent Details and browse the beautiful selection of home décor, antiques, collectables and jewelry from 3-10 p.m. Learn budget conscious redesign tips to decorate your home. Wine and appetizers will be served.

Art & Soul Gallery – In celebration of the Art Walk, Art & Soul Gallery is pleased to announce the addition of Hamilton Aguiar to their international collection of artists. Aguiar has developed an intriguing technique incorporating silver leaf into his original acrylic canvases, giving his work a unique translucent effect and transforming his landscapes with subtle changes of color and intensity as the light of day changes. visit website

Bistro de Paris – Bistro de Paris is currently taking dinner reservations for Valentine’s night only, from 5-9:30 p.m. A special four-course Valentine menu will be offered including choices of exquisite appetizers such as Bistro Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, main courses such as Surf & Turf with tender veal and fresh lobster tail, and decadent desserts such as Berry Glass with Crème Chantille. Blue Egg Gallery – Surprise your special someone with a one-of-a-kind Valentine created by artists at Blue Egg Gallery, available now until February 14th for only $10-20! A personal, hand-scripted message can be added by resident calligrapher, Erika Woods.

Brides by Demetrios – As a special addition to the Valentine’s Day Art Walk, Brides by Demetrios will preview the 2008 Spring Bridal and Prom collections at 404 W. Main Street, in one of the Monon & Main town homes located around the fountain at the roundabout. If you’ve received a special ring that night, start planning that special day by seeing what is in store for brides and bridesmaid dresses this season!

Carmel Arts Residences- Stop in and see Carmel’s Finest Penthouse Condominiums. Frazier Pettee Fine Art – Visit the District’s newest art gallery at 9 West Main St., displaying contemporary impressionistic paintings of Paris street scenes and a Venetian canal, figurative works including the ballet figure and the ballroom dance figure, as well as Indiana landscape and New England seascape paintings.

Laguna Gallery – This truly unique gallery is featuring artist Mario Madiai, an Italian artist born in Sienna, Italy, whose works have been shown all over Europe. Wine will be served as well.

Magdalena Gallery of Art – You are invited to join a special Valentines Day Opening Reception introducing new international artists Carlos Meijide from Spain and Manuel Velazquez from Mexico. In addition, Indianapolis artist Rita Spalding will be conducting an artist demonstration from 6-9 p.m. A silent auction will be held for the work.
